South Africa was for a long time the "Mecca" of DSWA Schutztruppe Bayonets. With the help of some good friends I was lucky enough to be able to assemble the following small collection.

For a detailed study of Schutztruppen Bayonets, please visit the following site

Above: The standard issue kS98 with leather grips.
Above: a kS98 which arrived in GSWA just before the outbreak of the war. As the leather handels were not optimal for desert service, the later models had red rubber, or in this case wood. This bayonet was captured by Private E.R. Cumming of the 1st South African Infantry (Durban Light Infantry) and taken home to Natal.
Above: At the top is a S89aAS bayonet, these predate the kS98
Above: Right- the 1st Company of the 2nd Field Regiment. The Stamp is from the Herero Rebellion period.
Above: 3 kS98 from DSWA
Above: 3 kS98
Above: Soldiers with the kS98
